Our physiotherapists have extensive experience and interest in providing physiotherapy services to infants, children, and adolescents. Their primary focus is on promoting and enhancing the physical development, function, and overall well-being of pediatric patients. A physiotherapy assessment typically includes a conversation with parents, specific questions about the child, observation of movement, participating in a variety of activities and hands-on assessment. The physiotherapist will assess how the child moves and determine whether they have areas of tightness, weakness or other concern. The physiotherapist will then create a treatment plan for the child that helps target these areas to improve the child's physical function! Much of our work looks like play but in a purposeful way!

Physiotherapists may work with a child with the following diagnoses:
-Plagiocephaly (flat spot on head), torticollis (tight neck, preference to look one way)
-Gross Motor Delay, Developmental Delay- difficulty learning to roll, sit, stand, walk, jump, run, skip, etc.
-Hypermobility, hypotonia
-Cancer rehabilitation
-Post fracture and/or post surgery rehabilitation
-Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida and other neurological conditions
-Down syndrome
-Muscular dystrophy
-Acquired brain injury, hemiparesis
-Autism Spectrum Disorder
-ADHD
-Injury rehabilitation

Feel free to book a free initial phone consultation with Carrie, our lead physiotherapist- she will give you a call to discuss your concerns and ensure that you are getting the most appropriate services from the right therapist for your concerns and geographical area.

Dr. Boutet is a Registered Psychologist with the Psychological Association of Manitoba. She received her Ph. D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Manitoba in 1994. She is also a Certified School Clinician in Manitoba (1999). Dr. Boutet has extensive experience working with the education system in Manitoba in her roles as a School Psychologist, Clinical Supervisor, Student Services manager, and a Psychology Consultant for the Department of Education.

In 2016, Dr. Boutet resumed her passion for providing direct psychological services within the community. Her treatment interests include children and youth experiencing learning, behaviour, social, emotional, and mental health difficulties. “Dr. Connie” has extensive experience working with anxiety, depression, and ADHD in this population and is committed to supporting school–age children reach their potential in school and in life.

Dr. Boutet approaches therapy from an ecological perspective, looking at the fit between life demands experienced by the client, both external (environmental) and internal (self-expectations), and the client’s personal resources to meet these demands, including coping skills, social supports, personality and temperament, physical health, and physical resources. When life demands exceed an individual’s ability to cope, stress occurs, which can result in emotional distress, behaviour problems, physical symptoms, and/or social difficulties. Within this model, therapy focuses on creating a better match between demands and individual resources by addressing specific stressors, teaching coping techniques and symptom management strategies, and increasing access to critical supports.

After 30+ years of traveling to the west coast of Canada for holidays, Dr. Connie and her family relocated to British Columbia in June of 2022, where she continues to offer virtual treatment for residents of Manitoba. Connie is enjoying the physical beauty of BC but misses seeing friends, family, and clients in person.

Jen spent nearly 10 years teaching in elementary schools in Winnipeg, with the majority of her teaching career spent in Kindergarten. She also taught Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 3, and Reading Recovery. Jen became very familiar with RDI Floortime, where she learned to follow her son’s lead and interests, and became his partner in play to help facilitate his growth and development and to create a caring, safe, inviting and inclusive learning environment for him. Jen’s son was non-speaking until 6 years of age, so she has experience with using an AAC device and the Proloquo2go program, which helped give her son a voice when he hadn’t yet found his. Jen has a passion for teaching and learning with all children, but especially those who are neurodiverse.
